Same Bowler, Two Arms, Two India Wickets — Rathnayake Creates History Despite SL's Embarrassing Loss

During Sri Lanka’s Asian Games 2026 semi-final match against India, Tharindu Rathnayake created history by taking wickets with both arms in the same T20 International. The first bowler to do it in T20I cricket, the ambidextrous spinner removed Shivam Dube with right-arm off-spin after dismissing Sanju Samson with left-arm orthodox spin. In a match that ultimately resulted in the island nation’s defeat, Rathnayake’s extraordinary talent gave Sri Lanka a significant talking point. At Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, India batted first and scored 169/7, with Ishan Kishan leading the way with an undefeated 80 off 46 balls. Even though Rathnayake finished with the figures of 2/32, Sri Lanka lost the semi-final despite his remarkable effort.
