IIT Bombay is planning major changes to its hostel arrangements, including introducing a twin-sharing model for students across all years, amid renewed concerns over student mental health and loneliness following the death of BTech student Sahil Wakode. At present, hostel rooms are generally shared by two students only during the first year, while students from subsequent years are usually allotted single rooms. Under the proposed arrangement, students across all years could be accommodated in twin-sharing rooms, Times Now has learnt.
