Maj Gen Turki al-Malki, spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognised government, said Saudi air defences destroyed the missiles before they reached their intended targets. Saudi authorities had earlier issued warnings covering several areas, including Taif, Yanbu, Jeddah and Makkah, before later declaring the danger had passed.
