Paryushan is one of the most important periods in Jainism, observed as an intensive time of spiritual reflection, austerity, self-study and purification. Among Digambar Jains, the corresponding observance is known as Das Lakshan Parva and is observed over 10 days, while Shwetambar Jains observe Paryushan over 8 days. The period encourages devotees to turn inward, reflect on their actions, practise restraint and work towards reducing anger, ego, deceit and greed.
