A Delhi Police head constable and his wife were found dead inside their flat in outer north Delhi’s Narela on Saturday. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding their deaths and the sequence of events leading to the incident.
The deceased were identified as Head Constable Monu, around 40, who was posted in the North District, and his wife, Meenu, 35, police said.
According to officials, a PCR call was received around 1 pm about a flat that was locked from inside. Police personnel reached the spot and, with the help of the Fire Department, entered the flat.
The bodies of the couple were found in the same room, police said.
Couple’s Children Were Away
According to preliminary information, the couple’s two children were away from home when the incident took place. They later returned and found the flat locked from inside.
When their repeated knocks went unanswered, neighbours gathered outside the house, sources said.
A neighbour told reporters that Monu had allegedly killed his wife before dying by suicide. However, police have not confirmed this account or established the sequence of events.
According to a preliminary account, neighbours looked inside through a window and saw Meenu lying dead, while Monu was found hanging.
Police are investigating the circumstances in which both died.
Forensic Team Examines The Spot
A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), along with the Crime Team and senior police officers, visited the flat and examined the premises.
The bodies have been sent to Raja Harish Chandra Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
Police are examining all possible circumstances, including whether a dispute preceded the incident. However, no such dispute has been officially confirmed.
Legal proceedings are underway, and further investigation is being conducted to establish the exact cause and circumstances of the deaths.
