Before Harsh and Asmita, India had never won a gold medal in the sport in the history of the games since Judo first appeared in the 1990 edition. Overall, India has 13 medals in the sport, with the two gold medals added to the previous tally of five silvers and six bronze medals. Yamini Maurya is also assured of a medal in the Women’s 57 KG category. The colour (either gold or silver) will be decided in a while.
