Pakistan are placed in a group in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, alongside. They will open their campaign against Afghanistan at the SuperSport Park in Centurion in Tshwane on October 8 and will return to the field just two days later to face arch-rivals India at the iconic New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
The Men in Green are placed in Group A alongside co-hosts Zimbabwe and defending champions Australia, as well as arch-rivals India. Meanwhile, they will also be joined by Afghanistan and one team that will qualify through the qualifiers. For the Super 7, they have been pre-seeded as A3, with India (A1) and Australia (A2) ahead of them from Group A.
The Shaheen Afridi-led side is aiming to win the mega event for the first time in 35 years. Their sole victory came in 1992 under Imran Khan’s leadership on Australian soil. They have not reached the final since the 1999 edition, where Australia defeated them at Lord’s. In fact, they have not even made the semi-finals since losing to India in the 201 edition at Mohali.
