In its affidavit, the ECI casts SIR as a constitutional duty, a revision authorised under Article 324 to clear dead, duplicate and shifted names, with no voter removed, it says, without due procedure. It argues that once ineligible ASDD (absent, shifted, duplicate/displaced) entries are set aside, adjudicated deletions in several seats fall below the margin of defeat — “completely” demolishing, in its words, the theory that the exercise altered the outcome. But that doesn’t settle the core discomfort: a purge larger than the winning margin in some seats, reversed in 93% of the cases actually tested.
