The Ladakh administration has revised the guidelines for admission to MBBS and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) seats under the Central Pool for the 2026-27 academic session. The revised system will replace the existing category-wise roster with a single merit list based on NEET ranking.
The Health and Medical Education Department, UT of Ladakh, issued the revised guidelines following the formation of seven new districts in the Union Territory. The changes have been approved by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena, according to the Ladakh administration.
Under the earlier system, introduced in 2021, candidates were considered through different categories and a roster system. These included reserved and unreserved candidates, Leh and Kargil districts, and male and female candidates, among other categories.
With the revised guidelines, the separate categories and roster system will be discontinued. Ladakh will now maintain a single merit list irrespective of the candidate’s domicile district, sex or reserved or unreserved status.
Ladakh Central Pool MBBS, BDS seats 2026
Admission to the allotted medical and dental colleges will be based strictly on NEET merit or ranking and the choices exercised by eligible candidates.
For the 2026-27 academic year, the Government of India has allotted seven MBBS and two BDS seats to Ladakh under the Central Pool. The seven MBBS seats have been allotted to the following institutions:
- Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi
- LLRM Medical College, Meerut
- Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi
- RSDKS Government Medical College, Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh
- Dumka Medical College, Jharkhand
- MLB Medical College, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh
- Chandulal Chandrakar Memorial Medical College, Durg, Chhattisgarh
One MBBS seat has been allotted to each of these institutions.
The two BDS seats have been allotted to KG Dental College, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, and Government Dental College, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, with one seat at each institution.
Ladakh Central Pool admission application
Eligible candidates with a valid NEET ranking will be given seven days to apply for the Central Pool MBBS and BDS seats through the official Ladakh NIC portal.
The administration has advised eligible candidates to check the official website of the UT of Ladakh for the detailed guidelines and further information regarding the application process.
The revised system marks a shift from the earlier district, gender and category-based roster to a common merit-based process for allocation of the limited Central Pool medical and dental seats.
