The clarification came after an alleged circular was widely circulated and taken up by opposition leaders. The purported document was reported to be from the Border Range and addressed to police units in Amritsar Rural, Batala, Gurdaspur and Pathankot. It allegedly asked personnel to avoid displaying their police identity while travelling between home and duty.
