Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced that students studying in Classes 10 and 12 in government schools will be provided with financial assistance to purchase tablets through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
The announcement was made by the Uttarakhand CM during the ‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Vidyarthi Manthan’ programme in Dehradun. At the event, Dhami interacted with a total of 140 students, who were selected from across the state, according to a PTI report.
Addressing the students, the chief minister said that the state government was working to modernise the education system and equip students with technology to meet future needs.
Students Share Ideas on Uttarakhand’s Development
Students shared their ideas, suggestions and vision during the interaction with the CM for the development of Uttarakhand. Dhami assured them that practical and useful suggestions from the youth would be considered while formulating government schemes and policies.
Suggestions from students covered a wide range of issues, including education, healthcare, tourism, roads, forests and environmental conservation. They also shared their views on sports, migration, self-employment and startups.
They also suggested measures to create new employment opportunities in villages, he added.
At the same time, students who presented outstanding ideas were felicitated during the event.
According to the Chief Minister, more than 2.67 lakh students from across Uttarakhand had submitted essays, ideas and suggestions as part of the campaign.
Under the proposed initiative, funds for purchasing tablets will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of eligible students studying in government schools in Classes 10 and 12. The move is aimed at helping students access digital learning tools and strengthen their engagement with technology-based education.
The programme was aimed at encouraging student participation in discussions on the state’s development and giving young people a platform to share their perspectives on policy and governance.
