Separately, the US has urged its citizens across the Middle East to exercise “heightened vigilance”, warning that the security situation remains complex and could deteriorate unexpectedly. US diplomatic missions in Iraq, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Qatar, Lebanon, Kuwait and Jordan issued security alerts on 19 September.
