Greece introduced a ban on social media access for children under 15 in April. Platforms are expected to be able to restrict such users from January 1, 2027, or face penalties. Indonesia began introducing restrictions on social media access for under-16s in March, focusing initially on platforms classified as high-risk for children. Malaysia has also started preventing people under 16 from creating social media accounts. In Portugal, parliament approved legislation requiring parental consent for users aged between 13 and 16. Turkey, meanwhile, passed legislation banning social media use by children under 15 and introducing additional rules for digital platforms.
