A 33-year-old chartered accountant working with a private company in Hyderabad allegedly died by suicide after inhaling helium gas inside a hotel room in Telangana’s Siddipet district. Police said the deceased left behind a two-page suicide note in which he blamed mounting debts caused by online gambling addiction and stated that nobody should be held responsible for his death.

The deceased, identified as Santosh, had reportedly returned from the US some time ago and was employed in the private sector in Hyderabad. According to police, he checked into a room at Haritha Hotel on August 1 and remained there alone.

The incident came to light three days later when hotel staff noticed that a “Do Not Disturb” sign had remained hanging outside the room continuously. Growing suspicious, the management alerted police on August 4.

A police team reached the hotel and entered the room through a window. Santosh was found dead inside.

Investigators recovered a helium gas cylinder allegedly purchased from Balanagar in Hyderabad and believe he died after inhaling the gas. Police have seized the equipment and other material found in the room as part of the investigation.

According to the suicide note, Santosh had become heavily addicted to online gambling and had accumulated substantial debts over time. He reportedly wrote that family members and friends had repeatedly helped him financially. The note also stated that he had recently sold his house in an attempt to clear outstanding liabilities but continued to struggle under mounting financial pressure.

Police sources said Santosh explicitly mentioned that no individual was responsible for his death.

Preliminary inquiries suggest he may have watched online videos related to suicide methods before checking into the hotel. His mobile phone has been sent for forensic examination, and investigators are analysing his digital activity.

Siddipet Three Town Police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation into the circumstances leading to Santosh’s death. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
