The Montgomery County Department of Police is investigating a shooting that occurred inside Wheaton Mall in Wheaton, Maryland, on Friday evening.
According to police, officers from the 4th District responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 6 PM inside the mall in the 11100 block of Veirs Mill Road.
Authorities said a juvenile victim was shot in the leg and was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police confirmed that a juvenile male suspect has been taken into custody.
Officials said the scene has been secured and there is no longer any threat inside the mall. Investigators remain at the scene, and the public is advised to avoid the area until the investigation is complete.
