Aman Ayushkar from Jharkhand carried the same dreams as his father, which he later turned into reality by clearing one of the toughest exams of the country. He secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 27 in his first attempt in the Indian Forest Service Examination (IFoS) 2025, which showcased his disciplined mindset, perseverance and hard work. Before he began his preparation for UPSC, he had served as the Border Roads Organisation Engineer.

Aman hails from Sahibganj, Jharkhand. His father was a farmer who once dreamt of joining the civil services. Although his father couldn’t fulfil his dreams due to some circumstances. Years later, Aman carried the same dream as his father and successfully achieved it.

He completed his bachelor’s in civil engineering from Jadavpur University and then pursued his master’s in water resources from IIT Delhi. After which, he joined the Border Roads Organisation through the Engineering Services.

During this time, he worked in some of India’s most challenging terrains, such as the strategically important Kailash Mansarovar road project near the Indo-Tibet-Nepal tri-junction.

Despite having a stable career, Aman’s dream to serve the public never disappeared. To pursue his dream, he left his stable government career behind, which displayed his courage to step out of his comfort zone. Aman resigned from his position and dedicated himself and all his time towards the preparation for the Indian Forest Service Examination.

His preparation approach for the IFoS was not built on shortcuts, but discipline, patience, and the showing up attitude which he learned from the other activities he used to do. His preparation strategy included:

  • Repeated Revision
  • Practising Previous Year Questions (PYQs)
  • Understanding the demands of the exam and question paper

Other than studying, Aman also used to do weightlifting which helped him to develop a disciplined mindset and patience that was required for the journey to achieve his dream. It taught him discipline, consistency and the importance of showing up regardless of the progress or mood.

Once the results were declared, his success was celebrated in several corners of the country. Through a family video call, all the members of the family connected from different parts of the country and celebrated his win. For his parents, his success was more of a relief, but to him, his success was the result of his perseverance.

He has also given a piece of advice to the other aspirants like him, who are working towards achieving their dreams. He advises them to not make an examination of their whole identity. Instead suggests them to build a personality, stay physically and mentally strong and keep moving forward. He is an inspiration to other aspirants for his perseverance, courage and power of carrying a dream across generations.
