BTS’ decision to boycott the 2027 Grammy Awards has sparked fresh controversy after a Recording Academy advisor slammed the K-pop supergroup for detracting from efforts to promote Asian representation in international music awards. Earlier this week, BTS announced they would not be submitting their music for consideration at the 69th Grammy Awards. In a statement posted simultaneously on their individual social media accounts by the seven members, RM, Jin, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook, the band said they wanted their music to be enjoyed “for what it is” and not to be put into any geographical or language box.
