St. Louis Shock Extend Dominant Run to Tighten Grip on MLP Title Race

The Shock haven’t dropped a match since May 31. Not a close call, not a slip-up against a lesser side, nothing. That run carried them into the Edward Jones Mid-Season Tournament in Grand Rapids earlier this month, where they closed things out with a 3-0 sweep of the New Jersey 5s to lift the title. It wasn’t just the scoreline that stood out. In the women’s doubles rubber, St. Louis pair Anna Bright and Kate Fahey beat Anna Leigh Waters and Jorja Johnson 11-6, the first time all season Waters, arguably the most dominant player in the sport right now, had lost a match. That result set the tone, and New Jersey never really recovered.
