kuala lumpur cup: tama shimabukuro, noe khlif to face off in men’s singles final

15-year-old Tama Shimabukuro of the US cruised into the men’s singles final after beating Hong Kit Wong in the semifinal. He will face France’s Noe Khlif in the final. Khlif beat Harrison Brown to reach the summit clash.

Shimabukuro stormed into the final with a convincing 11-7, 11-8 win over Hong Kit Wong in the semifinal. He will face Khlif, who produced an even more emphatic performance to dispatch Harrison Brown 11-7, 11-0 and book his place in the summit clash.

Shimabukuro will be chasing his second PPA Tour Asia singles title after winning the Macao Open in May. The American has continued his impressive run in Asia and will now look to add another trophy to his growing collection.

Khlif, meanwhile, is bidding for his maiden title on the circuit on his debut. The Frenchman has made an immediate impact in Kuala Lumpur and will have a chance to cap his first PPA Tour Asia appearance with the biggest prize.

The women’s singles final will be an all-American affair, with Kaitlyn Christian set to take on Brooke Buckner.

Christian booked her place in the title clash with an 11-6, 11-2 victory over Sahra Dennehy in the first semifinal. Buckner followed with a 11-7, 11-5 win over Japan’s Rika Fujiwara to secure her spot in the final.

Both singles finals promise contrasting storylines. Shimabukuro is chasing another title after his breakthrough success in Macao, while Khlif is aiming to turn an impressive debut into a maiden PPA Tour Asia crown. In the women’s draw, Christian and Buckner will battle for American supremacy and the Kuala Lumpur Cup title.
