In heartbreaking news, a 13-year-old reportedly passed away after a tragic accident during Spain’s FIFA World Cup celebrations in Ciudad Rodrigo, Salamanca. The incident occurred when the fountain collapsed after fans climbed on it to celebrate the second FIFA World Cup win, with a part of the structure falling on the fans, leaving one dead and several others injured.
“What should have been a celebration of the Spanish National Team’s victory in the World Cup has turned into a tragedy for the entire community of Ciudad Rodrigo,” said the municipal authority, who also wished for the speedy recovery of those injured, as quoted by Argentine media.
“Given these circumstances and as a sign of mourning for the loss, the flags of the City Hall will fly at half-mast between July 20 and 22, inclusive,” the council stated.
