The Tekton will be a part of the company’s India portfolio, which also includes models like the Magnite SUV and Gravite MPV. India is about to play a much bigger role in Nissan’s global plans. The company’s Chief Performance Officer, Guillaume Cartier shared that the country is officially becoming a major export base for Nissan. During the event, he announced that the Tekton SUV will be built locally in India and shipped to international markets, including South Africa and the Middle East. Here’s all you need to know about the new Tekton.
Nissan Tekton: Exterior Design and Dimensions
The Tekton comes with a design that is inspired by the bigger Patrol SUV. It has an upright stance, along with 18-inch alloy wheels, C-signature with connecting lamp, full-width horizontal lightbar, C-shaped protectors at the front as well as a ‘Nissan’ badging on the hood. The brand says it has gone for a high-gloss premium finish grille and Himalaya-inspired side decal to lend the car with a robust feel.
Coming to the dimensions, the length of the Tekton stands at 4,348 mm, along with a width of 1,815 mm, a height of 1,674 mm and a wheelbase of 2,657 mm. The model, furthermore, boasts a ground clearance of 212 mm.
As for colour options, you can choose from 6 interesting shades: Pearl White, Blade Silver, Onyx Black, Moonbow Gray, Flare Garnet Red and Indigo Blue. There are 5 monotone and 6 dual-tone shades, bringing the total to 11.
Nissan Tekton: Interior and Features
Coming to the interior, the Nissan Tekton arrives with a range of comfort and convenience features. These include powered front seats, Google built-in with Google Maps, dual-zone AC control, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats and a remote start-stop feature with voice command. You can operate the start-stop feature via My Nissan App. Other advanced features include an electronic parking brake, adaptive cruise control, ADAS, paddle shifters and a smart powered tailgate.
Nissan Tekton: Powertrain, Mileage and Competitors
When it comes to performance, the Nissan Tekton gives you two turbo-petrol choices. The everyday commuter option is a punchy 1.0-litre motor making 100 hp and 166 Nm of torque, with a fuel economy of 19.4 kmpl. If you want more muscle, there is a larger 1.3-litre engine pushing out a hefty 163 hp and 280 Nm of torque. This bigger engine drops efficiency slightly to 18.5 kmpl but adds a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) alongside the standard six-speed manual. Interestingly, the model will come with 50+ personalisation options and 5-years Nissan Care pack.
In the Indian market, the Tekton goes up against popular models like the Honda Elevate, Tata Sierra, Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Victoris and Kia Seltos.
