72.8% of Suicide Deaths in India Are Men: Experts Warn of a Silent Mental Health Crisis

“Instead of expressing emotional distress, men may describe their struggles as work stress, financial pressure or physical exhaustion. As a result, underlying mental health conditions often go unnoticed and untreated. “The common assumption is that men simply do not talk about their feelings. The reality is more complicated. Many men have been taught that their value lies in being dependable. They are expected to earn, provide, solve problems, and keep moving forward. When life becomes difficult, stepping back is rarely seen as an option. For some, even acknowledging emotional distress can feel uncomfortable. For others, it feels irresponsible,” said Prakriti Saxena Poddar, Global Head at Roundglass.
