A powerful 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia’s Central Sulawesi province on Tuesday, causing strong tremors that were felt across parts of the region and prompting concerns over potential damage and casualties. According to preliminary data, the earthquake was centred approximately 46 kilometres east-southeast of Palu, the provincial capital of Central Sulawesi. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the quake occurred at a depth of around 10 kilometres, making it a relatively shallow seismic event capable of generating stronger ground shaking.
