Rebel Trinamool Congress MPs, including senior leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay and Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, gathered at Union Minister Bhupender Yadav’s residence in New Delhi on Sunday before heading to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s residence. The development comes as the dissident camp is stepping up its push for recognition as a separate parliamentary bloc.

Among those who attended the meeting at Yadav’s house were Satabdi Roy, Saayoni Ghosh, Mala Roy, Bapi Halder and Yusuf Pathan.

‘TMC Indivisible Party’: Mamata’s Camp Claims

Responding to the ongoing developments, TMC MP Sagarika Ghose informed that they have submitted a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, stating that “TMC is a indivisible party”.

“You cannot form a separate group within the Lok Sabha. This is against the Constitutution…We have given the letter that those who want to break the TMC and want to form a separate group within the Lok Sabha – this is against the Constitution. The Constitution does not allow this. This is against law. This reflects your moral weakness that when the party loses you abandon that party, that leader, that symbol on which you won,” she said.

Abhishek Banerjee Writes Letter To Speaker

TMC national general secretary and Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, urging him to recognise the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) as a single, unified political party in the House and not accord any status to any separate faction claiming to represent the party.

In his letter, Banerjee requested the Speaker to “treat the AITC as a single political party represented in the House solely through its duly authorised Leader and Whip, and decline to accord any recognition, status, or facility to any purported separate group or faction of the AITC.”
