If you are inside a building during lightning, stay off corded phones, computers and any device that connects directly to an electrical outlet. Avoid all plumbing, including sinks, faucets and toilets. Keep away from windows, doors and porches, and do not lie on concrete floors or rest against concrete walls, the NWS advises.
