How Much Better Is This Than Before?
Under the previous policy, EV buyers in Haryana got a one-time 20% exemption on motor vehicle tax, applied uniformly regardless of what the car actually cost. The new structure removes that cap entirely for cars priced up to Rs 30 lakh, meaning eligible buyers pay zero motor vehicle tax instead of 80% of it. For anyone buying an EV priced above Rs 30 lakh, the exemption still improves from 20% to 50%, so even premium EV buyers see a meaningfully larger saving than under the older rule.
