Before being promoted as Director General of Police, GS Malik served as the police commissioner of Ahmedabad City. Malik has also served as the Central Security Forces, as Additional Director General (ADG) for Airport Security in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and as the Inspector General (IG) of the Border Security Force (BSF).
