Top US Professor Warns Congo Ebola Outbreak May Be Far Bigger Than Reported

A fresh Ebola outbreak in Central Africa has sparked global concern after health experts warned that the actual scale of infections and deaths may be significantly larger than what the official figures reveal. The outbreak, which is currently affecting parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and neighbouring Uganda, is linked to the rare Bundibugyo strain of Ebola – a strain for which there is still no approved vaccine. As per Dr. Nita Bharti, an infectious disease expert at Penn State University, delayed identification of the outbreak has somehow allowed the virus to spread across multiple communities before authorities could step in.
