‘bjp will be removed from centre’: mamata banerjee’s big warning after bengal defeat

Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee has intensified her attack on the BJP days after her party suffered a major defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections. During a meeting with party MLAs in Kalighat, Banerjee said the BJP-led Central government would not remain in power forever.

“BJP will be removed from power in Delhi in the coming days,” she said, according to TMC sources cited by ANI.

The remarks came after the BJP registered a massive victory in the Assembly elections, winning 207 seats and ending the Trinamool Congress’s 15-year rule in West Bengal. The TMC managed to win 80 seats.

TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, who attended the meeting, said the party would continue its fight against the BJP despite the setback.

“Let them do whatever they want…raze down my home, send notice … I won’t bow down over these things. Come what may, my fight will continue against the BJP,” he said.

Abhishek Banerjee also targeted Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari during the meeting.

“Our state had many chief ministers, but none like the current one. The one who was seen taking money on camera has been made CM,” he said, according to TMC sources.

Meanwhile, the TMC has approached the Calcutta High Court over alleged post-poll violence in different parts of the state after the BJP’s victory.

According to the petition, incidents of arson, vandalism and attacks on TMC workers and party offices were reported from several areas.

The party has sought protection for its workers and demanded a proper investigation into the violence.

Clashes and vandalism were reported from Kolkata, Howrah and other district towns, with both the BJP and the TMC blaming each other.

TMC leaders also alleged that several party workers were killed after the election results and demanded a court-monitored probe.

On May 14, Mamata Banerjee appeared before the Calcutta High Court wearing lawyer’s robes in connection with the PIL before Chief Justice HC Sujoy Paul.
