Design
The F 450 GS retains BMW’s core ADV design language with a tall stance, beak-style front, and upright ergonomics. It runs a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup, improving obstacle clearance and stability on rough roads. The GS Trophy variant adds wire-spoke wheels and off-road tyres. The overall design prioritises control and visibility, especially for Indian highways and broken-road conditions.
Engine And Performance
The motorcycle uses a new 420cc parallel-twin engine producing 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm. It features throttle-by-wire, a 6-speed gearbox, and traction control integration. BMW has used a 135-degree crank offset to improve refinement and character. Compared to single-cylinder rivals, this setup offers smoother highway cruising and better mid-range performance for touring.
Hardware
Hardware includes a 43 mm USD fork and rear monoshock with 180 mm travel at both ends, indicating genuine off-road capability. Braking is handled by a 310 mm front disc with a four-piston Brembo caliper and a 240 mm rear disc. It also gets ABS Pro with lean sensitivity. Dual-purpose tyres and long-travel suspension make it usable beyond highways.
Features
The F 450 GS offers Rain, Road, and Enduro riding modes, adjusting throttle response and traction control. It also introduces the Easy Ride Clutch (ERC), which reduces stalling and clutch effort, useful for beginners or traffic riding. Other features include a TFT display, smartphone connectivity, and dynamic traction control, aligning with expectations from a premium mid-capacity ADV.

At Rs 4.70 lakh (ex-showroom), the F 450 GS sits between entry-level ADVs and larger 650cc machines. Key rivals include KTM 390 Adventure and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
