Re-NEET Sparks Fresh OMR Row; NTA Flags Fake, AI-Generated Copies in Many Complaints

re-neet sparks fresh row over omr; nta says complaints involve fake, ai-generated copies

In the wake of the Re-NEET result announcement, a fresh online debate has erupted. A tweet posted by the Indian National Congress (INC) shares a video of a father alleging that his son’s answer script has been ‘changed’ and belongs to someone else.

“According to the father, the OMR sheet given to his son, Avnish Shrivastava, by the NTA belongs to some Ajit Singh,” the tweet reads.

“Just imagine… what that child must be going through, having been deceived like this,” it added.

Taking a swipe at the testing agency over frequent debacles, the opposition said, “NTA is proving to be a failure at every level, but the shamelessness is such that Dharmendra Pradhan, responsible for all this, is clinging to his chair.”

Apart from the OMR mismatch issue, a tweet alleging discrepancies in marks calculation is gaining traction online. “My son’s NEET OMR sheet shows that he has scored 660, but when the result came yesterday, it was 116. How come I have all the proof? Please help me.”

NTA: ‘Many OMR Sheets Are Turning Out to Be Fake and AI-Generated’

Soon after these incidents surfaced, the NTA put out an official tweet stating that it is ‘closely monitoring and scrutinising all complaints’, adding that many OMR sheets submitted for review have turned out to be fake or AI-generated.

Notably, the NTA hasn’t directly referred to the concerned fathers’ OMR sheet claims as ‘fake’; rather, it has highlighted concerns over forged sheets being sent to it for review.

The agency has advised students and their parents to submit only original sheets and has warned offenders of legal consequences.

Ever since the May 3 paper leak, the NTA has faced numerous challenges related to exam management. The re-examination result for Re-NEET 2026 (held on June 21) was declared on July 16, 2026, with 11.21 lakh candidates passing the test and toppers emerging from almost all States and Union Territories across India.

“A total of close to 20 lakh candidates appeared for NEET (UG) 2026 at 5,440 centres in 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad. 11.21 lakh candidates have qualified for admission to undergraduate medical, dental, AYUSH and allied programmes,” the result notification stated.

Notably, 138 candidates scored above 690 marks out of 720. Of these, more than 93 per cent appeared for NEET (UG) for the first time, and 99 per cent are aged between 17 and 19 years.
