That plan failed, and Siya and Chetan allegedly regrouped on 1 June to draw up what they considered a “foolproof” second attempt for 4 June. That collapsed too, partly because of an upcoming Bali trip scheduled for 6 June. Police sources say Chetan had been pressuring Siya to keep Ketan away from that trip, and under that pressure, Siya allegedly tore up Ketan’s passport and flushed it down a hotel washroom en route to the airport on 6 June, using a missing-phone excuse to create a window to destroy the document. The Bali trip was cancelled, and Ketan, suspicious that the passport hadn’t simply gone missing, reportedly got into repeated arguments with Siya in the days that followed.
