Officials have claimed to have foiled a major terror plot that allegedly involved plans to conduct reconnaissance and kill a prominent woman politician, besides carrying out bomb attacks on political party offices and security headquarters. In connection with the case, the ATS has arrested the accused, identified as Mohammad Sheikh, son of Rehan Ahmad and a resident of Azamgarh district. According to ATS officials, he was allegedly radicalised through social media and was in contact with Pakistan-based gangster Shahzad Bhatti.
