COVID hospital admissions in the UK have jumped by nearly 50% in a week, with London hit hardest, as the XFG variant, known as “Stratus,” takes hold. But health experts say the rise is from a low level and there is no sign the variant is more severe. As per multiple media reports, new figures from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) show the weekly admission rate climbing from 0.81 to 1.20 per 100,000 people. London saw the sharpest rise at 79%.
