Digger sees Tom Cruise return to the big screen, but this time the actor steps away from his usual action hero role for a strange and ambitious satire. Oscar-winning filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu directs the film, that released in theatres on October 2 alongside two very different films – Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam: The Conclusion and Anne Hathaway-Dakota Johnson’s Verity. Early X reactions suggest Digger is probably not going to be a conventional crowd-pleaser. Some viewers have described it as bold, surreal, and one of the most fascinating films of the year, while others found its humour, narrative choices, and satire difficult to embrace.
