A prayer meet was held today in memory of veteran actor Mushtaq Khan, who passed away on September 24 following a battle with cancer. The actor, known for films including Welcome, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Wanted, Oh My God!, Stree and Gadar 2, had been hospitalised after a relapse days before his demise. Last week, his funeral was held in Mumbai’s Versova Muslim Kabristan. Khan’s prayer meet was attended by his family, close friends and several members of the film fraternity, who gathered to remember the late actor and offer their condolences.

Mushtaq breathed his last on September 24 at the age of 56.
Raza Murad’s Message For Bollywood Stars
Across his decades-long career, Mushtaq Khan worked alongside some of the biggest names in the Hindi film industry. However, only a handful of celebrities attended his funeral last week. This left veteran actor Raza Murad disappointed. He recently took to social media to call out the absence of A-list stars.
In a video, he said, “Kal unka antim sanskar kiya gaya. Unhe dafna kiya gaya. Lekin afsos baat yeh hai ki koi bhi star jinko hum star kehte hain, unhe apna aakhri salaam pesh karne nahi aaya. Unke saathi aur colleagues aaye lekin koi bada chehra nahi aaya. Haan, agar koi bade udyogpati ke bete ki shaadi hoti toh yeh saare na sirf shirkat karte bal ke waiters ki tarah mehmanon ko serve bhi karte. Ya koi political party apna tanta dikhati hai, billi ki tarah vahan bhi pohonch jate hain. (He was buried yesterday, but sadly no ‘star’ came to pay tribute to him. Yes, his colleagues and loved ones were there, but no big face was seen. If it had been an industrialist’s son’s wedding, they wouldn’t just attend it, but serve guests like waiters. If a political party would summon, they would go there also).”
He went on to say that Mushtaq dedicated his entire life to the film industry yet people could not spare even 50 minutes to bid him a final farewell. Murad added that everyone eventually loses their charm and popularity and urged celebrities to remain humble, grounded and kind.
Khan’s funeral was attended by Rajpal Yadav, Anees Bazmee, Sanjay Mishra, Rajat Bedi, Sunil Pal and others.
