It began with two numbers that can turn an ordinary passenger flight into a security emergency. FlyDubai flight FZ1073, travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv with around 180 people on board, transmitted the international emergency code 7700 before switching briefly to 7500, the code used to indicate unlawful interference or a possible hijacking. Flight-tracking data showed that the flight dropped 14,125 feet in just 29 seconds.
