Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Friday (September 25) sought deferral of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission’s Mains Exam, scheduled for next month, until the committee set up to recommend detailed reforms in the recruiting body submits its report.
In a letter to Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Thackeray said candidates likely to be impacted by the exam postponement, especially those who may become ineligible due to the age limit, should be allowed appropriate age relaxation.
“The examinations should be postponed until the V Radha Committee submits its report and the recommendations of the Committee are properly and effectively implemented,” Thackeray said in his letter, as per a PTI report.
The V Radha Committee has been holding discussions with stakeholders.
The former state minister requested the Governor to take a suitable decision in the candidates’ interest.
It will help revive candidates’ confidence in the Maharashtra Public Service Commission and its operations, while also ensuring justice and opportunity for all candidates, he said.
Thackeray added that the MPSC chairman should be directed to submit his resignation and action should be initiated against him.
The aspirants have been staging demonstrations across the state over exam-related irregularities.
Earlier, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke demanded reforms in MPSC and the resignation of its chairman, Vivek Bhimanwar.
Crime Branch Arrests 4 More In Drug Inspector Paper Leak Case
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested four more accused, including two candidates, in connection with the alleged question paper leak of the MPSC Drug Inspector (Group-B) screening exam, taking the tally to 11.
According to investigative officials, two candidates, identified as Sajid Sande and Vijay Kingar, and middlemen Sandip Khalate and Bhairavnath Kadam, both Navi Mumbai residents, were taken into custody on Thursday (September 24).
The MPSC Drug Inspector examination for Group-B posts was cancelled by the Commission following a preliminary inquiry suggesting malpractice.
