The rise in cases comes amid intermittent rainfall and changing weather conditions, which can leave stagnant water in homes, construction sites and public spaces. These conditions can provide breeding sites for Aedes mosquitoes, which transmit dengue. The AMC’s Vector Borne Disease Control branch carried out inspections at 1,298 establishments across Ahmedabad on September 22 and 23. Mosquito breeding was detected at 146 premises, while 222 notices were issued. The civic body collected ₹6.06 lakh in administrative charges during the drive.
