This thought is echoed by Proef Suman Chakraborty, Director of the IIT Kharagpur, who believes that while academic integrity is non-negotiable, so is human dignity. Stating that a “student must never feel abandoned”, Prof Chakraborty explained: “When a possible academic violation occurs, institutions must protect the integrity of the examination, establish facts objectively and follow due process. At the same time, particularly when a student shows acute distress, there must be an immediate human bridge to appropriate support.”
