Santosh Davakhar’s Gondhal defeated 32 other Indian movies to become India’s official entry to the Oscars 2027. Among the proposed films, Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar was expected to make the cut, but the Marathi thriller was chosen for its unique approach to narrating a folklore from Maharashtra. In an exclusive interview with Times Now Digital, Santosh reacted to ‘defeating’ Dhurandhar. He further spoke about going forward with the Oscars campaign and the decision to not push for the film’s nominations for Indian awards. Davakhar said Gondhal will be re-released in India in Marathi, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam within a month.
