The unusual broadcast followed a decision by the television press pool – made up of Fox News, ABC, CBS, CNN and NBC – to suspend coverage of events designated as pool coverage of the president. CNN, MS NOW and Politico had been barred from the White House over the weekend after the administration objected to their reporting, describing it as “fake news”.
