Approximately 10 months ago, in December 2025, Gerber had opened up about his treatment history on an Instagram reel video saying “Every psychiatrist I’ve had, and I’ve had, like, 15, they’re all like, ‘Here’s 20 medications. Take this if you feel like this, take this as needed.’ And I’m like, ‘No, don’t give me that much leeway. I need some direction,’” he added, sharing with utmost frustration about his treatment and medicine management. He also mentioned in the reel that he had experienced loss in many different forms at that point in time and that it was not an excuse but a reason and a part of why he was where he was. He said that he’s been taking medicine like valium, which calms the central nervous system, and buprenorphine, used to treat pain and opioid use disorders, as well as Xanax “when the panic attacks are really, really bad.” He also acknowledged that he wanted more structure and guidance around his medication.
