India Davis Cup captain Rohit Rajpal extended support to Sumit Nagal, who lost four Davis Cup games this year, with India falling short of a place in the Davis Cup top 8 after losing to South Korea 3-1. Nagal lost both his matches against Hyeon Chung and Kwon Soonwoo, respectively. Dakshineshwar Suresh also suffered a defeat to Kwon. Rajpal refused to blame Nagal for the defeat and said it was a collective failure of the team.
