Two privately owned Colorado water systems were targeted and manipulated by foreign hackers in late August, with attackers changing equipment settings, disabling alarms and remote access, and altering pumping cycles, according to Colorado Governor Jared Polis’ office. The incidents affected utilities serving fewer than 200 people each, but officials said there was no impact on public safety or water services.
