B-1, B-2 To Serve Longer as US Air Force Plans Bomber Fleet Transition To B-21 'Raider'

The US Air Force will extend the service of its B-1 Lancer and B-2 Spirit bombers as the service works to maintain the readiness of its bomber fleet while accelerating the development and production of the next-generation B-21 Raider. Gen. Stephen L. Davis, commander of Air Force Global Strike Command, announced the decision during a panel at the Air & Space Forces Association’s 2026 Air, Space & Cyber Conference.
