Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal have made their returns for the ODI series against West Indies. Along with them, Ravindra Jadeja is also back after being dropped from the team for the Afghanistan and England ODIs. Ruturaj was in line to make his return in the absence of Shreyas Iyer. The India T20I captain will miss the West Indies ODI series due to India’s Asian Games commitments. Ruturaj batted in the middle-order in the series against South Africa and is likely to bat at number four again.
The right-handed batter slammed a century in the second ODI of the series and didn’t get a chance to bat in the third game. He was dropped for the New Zealand series that followed and has been out of the team since then.
Jaiswal also scored a century in the South Africa series, but was dropped from the playing XI against New Zealand. He got to play against Afghanistan and slammed a century in the third game of the series. Despite the century, he was dropped from the team for the England ODIs.
Jadeja lost his place to Axar. Since Axar will be in Japan for the Asian Games, Jadeja made his return for the series. It’s most likely his last opportunity to stake a claim for a place in the 2027 ODI World Cup team.

The three ODIs will be played on September 27, 30 and October 3 in Kerala, Guwahati and New Chandigarh, respectively. Following the ODIs, the two teams will square off in three T20Is.
