Calling it a lesson, he added, “Imagine if the distributors had thought, ‘Okay, the opening day numbers or the opening weekend numbers are not very encouraging, so week two we are going to take it out of the theatres.’ Would we have had one of the biggest hits of the year? So there is a lesson there for everyone, for myself included. I’m also a distributor, a producer. There’s a lesson there for everyone, including myself, that once you make a great piece of cinema, you really need to believe in it. You need to put it out there and give it time to percolate and reach people and for people to discover the film.”
