Since women’s wrestling made its Asian Games debut in Busan in 2002, India has returned with a medal from every edition, underlining the sport’s growing importance in the country. But there is still plenty of ground to cover. India’s tally of nine medals – one gold, one silver and seven bronze – is dwarfed by Japan’s 23, China’s 20 and Mongolia’s 16. North Korea, despite competing at only two editions, in 2018 and 2023, has already collected 10 medals.
