A 38-year-old Long Island man has been charged after allegedly storming the field at Yankee Stadium during a Yankees-Mets game commemorating the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Kelly Marcucci was arrested after he reportedly jumped from the stands onto the baseball field during the seventh inning of Friday’s Subway Series game in the Bronx. The incident took place at approximately 9:11 p.m., according to law enforcement.
Marcucci faces misdemeanor charges of interfering with a professional sporting event and trespassing, the New York Post reported, citing the NYPD.
Video footage showed security personnel quickly subduing the man in centerfield as spectators chanted “USA!”
Hours before the incident, Marcucci reportedly posted a disjointed and erratic rant on Facebook discussing capitalism, Zionism, Saudi Arabia and the 9/11 attacks. He also referred to several prominent figures, including US President Donald Trump and podcaster Joe Rogan.

In a Facebook story posted from the stadium, Marcucci shared a short video of himself in the stands wearing a jersey bearing the name “K. Marcucci”.
The front of the jersey displayed the words “No Kings”, a phrase commonly associated with anti-Trump sentiment.
The incident took place during a game marking the 25th anniversary of the 11 September 2001 attacks, in which nearly 3,000 people were killed after terrorists hijacked commercial airplanes and crashed them into the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers.
Several members of the 2001 Yankees team, including Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Paul O’Neill, Tino Martinez, Scott Brosius and Mariano Rivera, were present to honour the victims and commemorate the tragedy.
The Yankees went on to beat the Mets 6-4 during Friday night’s Subway Series matchup. Married couple Brielle Saracini and Sean McGuire, who both lost their fathers on 9/11, threw the ceremonial first pitches.
The jersey-wearing pair met at a camp for children whose parents were killed in the attacks.
Saracini shares a special bond with Yankees legend Derek Jeter, who was also at the game. After her father, Victor Saracini, a pilot of one of the hijacked flights, was killed, she wrote a letter to Jeter.
Jeter invited the then-10-year-old to the stadium to meet the team and feel a sense of normalcy amid the devastation. “When we invited her to the stadium, you really don’t know what to say,” Jeter said during a news conference. “So I don’t even know if I said ‘I’m sorry’ or anything like that. I just tried to make her day feel special…and you just try to make her feel as comfortable as you possibly can.”
